About the Artist

Sarah White (b. 1993) is a visual artist living and working in Seattle, Washington. Her abstract painting style is founded in a long-standing interest in old objects and decay, having photographed obscure details in nature since her childhood. Her work explores cultural expectations around repair or disposal. It is her hope that her large-scale, minimal, color-field paintings evoke the feeling of nostalgia she finds in all things that age well.

“Since I can remember I’ve always seen the world through a micro lens. Details others may not notice stop me in my tracks. Anything from a decomposing leaf to an old rusty car. I photograph all of these things I see and return to them later for inspiration.”

“I believe nature is the ultimate artist.
I simply aim to evoke the natural world's beauty and complexity.”
